CleanShift Detailing started in the late spring of 2022 in the best neighbour hood in Ottawa, Blackburn Hamlet. I was going into my first summer with my own car and wanted it to look nice and be comfortable, so I went to the store and bought the basics to clean my car, using my mom's house vacuum and lysol wipes to clean the interior. Once I was finished with my satisfactory budget detail I turned to my moms van that was a mess considering I have 3 siblings and 3 dogs who at the time all used this van. Realizing the tools I needed to clean out the dog hair and crusty, stain filled backseat cupholders, etc. would not be good enough I started buying equipment off of amazon and garage sales. At this time I was also watching many videos on how to properly detail a car so I knew what products and equipment I would need. Once I collected everything, I eventually got to work on the van and detail the entire thing within 2 days, on the second day my neighbours started noticing and would ask me to detail their vehicles which I enthusiastically agreed to. I then realized this was a business in demand and started doing small scale advertisements in my neighbourhood such as flyers at the grocery store and proceeded to get more customers and was detailing up until the snow came around. Coming into spring 2023, I am definitely looking at car detailing being my full time job as it has already taught me a ton about starting and running a small business. Furthermore it has given me something to work for and definitely contributes to the pursuit of fulfilling my entrepreneur aspirations.
